SERU equality and disability: questions and answers

Based on Private Hire Vehicle Driver's Handbook, version 1.0 (Transport for London, published 30 September 2021) and 7 other sources. Checked .

This topic follows Section 8 of TfL's PHV Driver's Handbook. It covers how to help passengers, the Equality Act 2010, wheelchair users and assistance dogs.

The law has changed since the Handbook was published in 2021. The Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles (Disabled Persons) Act 2022 added duties for all drivers, not only those with a designated wheelchair accessible vehicle. Questions on these duties cite the law as it stands today.
