Questions people ask
Do private hire applicants need to know the hackney carriage byelaws?
Yes. The Council's Stage 3 page says both hackney carriage and private hire applicants sit Section 1 of the knowledge test, and Section 1 includes a byelaws part with a pass mark of 8.
Why are private hire conditions here as well?
The Council lists the private hire driver conditions next to the byelaws as rules drivers must follow. We do not know exactly which document the byelaws questions in the real test come from, so we cover both.
Are these the Council's real questions?
No. We wrote them from the byelaws and conditions themselves. The real test questions are not published.
