Leeds regulatory framework: questions and answers
Based on Private hire driver conditions (Leeds City Council, undated web page (Appendix 7 of the licensing policy)) and 5 other sources. Checked .
Every new Leeds driver must pass a regulatory framework test with at least 80%. It covers the law that controls the trade, mainly the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 and the Highways Act 1980, plus the rules Leeds has made under them.
These questions are based on Leeds City Council's own documents: the private hire driver conditions, the hackney carriage byelaws and hackney carriage conditions, the licensing policy and the plying for hire policy. For the national law that applies everywhere, also practise the core licensing law topic.
The real test has some mandatory questions. If you get one of them wrong, you fail the test even if your score is over 80%. Leeds does not publish which questions they are, so learn every rule.
